Data Sources

Lake Lowdown aggregates publicly available data from official sources including the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), National Weather Service (NWS), and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE).

What Each Source Provides

  • USGS: water levels and historical measurements
  • NWS: current weather conditions and forecasts
  • USACE: reservoir and managed lake data

Update Frequency

Data update frequency depends on the reporting source. Many stations update hourly, while others may update less frequently depending on availability and reporting schedules.

Limitations

Lake Lowdown displays data as provided by external sources. Availability, accuracy, and update timing depend on each provider. Temporary outages, delays, or missing data may occur.

Not all lakes have active gauges or complete reporting. Data availability depends on provider coverage and operational status.
